UPCOMING EVENTS FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS TEAMS

So Does This Rather Odd Way of Funding
Programs Work?

YEP!

  • Our Brewfest volunteers earned $800 in support of the ASAP spay/neuter program.
  • In 2010 our ring crews earned slightly over $6000. In 2011 we were shooting for $10,000 ...and in ten trials made $10,257!

Our trial calendar for 2012 is shorter, but as you can see we hit the ground running!

Special Projects Teams

CLICK HERE to fill out the Special Projects application online now.

Frequently opportunities arise for Animal Aid to earn money by providing intelligent, reliable temporary staff for other people's events. Our Special Projects teams don't ask for money, they earn it.

In most cases, there is little to no training required, and volunteers will get free admittance to the event once their shift is over. And what a fun selection of events we're finding! Car shows, canine agility trials, the Portland International Brewfest – the possibilities are endless. And the clear positive impact of these activities makes them excellent choices for community service projects.

Why is this good for Animal Aid?    Zero overhead! All money earned goes directly into our programs, and all volunteer hours have an immediate, concrete payoff.

Is the Special Projects Team a good fit for you?   Maybe. Do any of these apply?

  • I'd love to support Animal Aid, but my budget is already stretched to the max.
  • My family/work schedule is very unpredictable – I could help on an occasional weekend, though.
  • I'd like to help, but I want something I can involve my family in as well.
  • I need Community Service hours right away!
  • I want to know that my contribution of time and effort is going directly to help the animals, not paying for stamps on a mailer!

How do I sign up?

  • If you've already filled out a volunteer application for Animal Aid, we already have most of the information we need – just send us an email at to tell us which event interests you.
  • If you've never submitted an Animal Aid volunteer application before CLICK HERE to sign up online* right now! More comfortable filling out things by hand? Then CLICK HERE to download a Special Projects Team application you can mail or fax to us.
  • * Is it safe to send my personal information over the Internet? Any pages on our site that deal with personal information are on a secure server (https://), so all transmissions are encrypted.

Agility Ring Crews

Upcoming Events

Canine Agility Trial
Host: Portland Agility Club (PAC)
+ German Shepherd Club
Clark Co. Fairground, Ridgefield, WA

  • Friday, March 16
  • Saturday, March 17
  • Sunday, March 18

Our hardworking volunteers are developing a good name for themselves in the agility community!

What do we do? Ring crews are seated inside each of the 100’ by 100’ agility rings during the competition. They are responsible for adjusting the equipment as needed, moving quickly and unobtrusively.

This is a great way to satisfy community service requirements – you can earn 4 to 24+ hours in a single weekend.

  • New workers must sign in 1/2 hour early for hands-on training.
  • All workers are required to read the workers' information packet for your event. CLICK HERE to take a look at the worker training packet.
  • Note: Workers under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
This pair = one "super worker"!

How do I sign up? This is done in three steps

  1. Start by completing a volunteer application. CLICK HERE to do it now! Note: If you have ever worked as a volunteer for Animal Aid before, we should have your application on file and you can skip this step.
  2. Send the Ring Crew Coordinator an email at
  3. describing which shift(s) you would like to work – first come, first served, so don't wait until the last minute.
  4. Read the workers' information packet for your event – this is REQUIRED of all workers before they come out! CLICK HERE to take a look at the training packet.

What are we working for? In exchange for our crew's work the hosting clubls donate desperately needed money to the Animal Aid Fund for Urgent Veterinary Care. Every single dollar will go directly to work helping community members deal with urgent veterinary expenses. The hard work of our volunteers impacts many small lives!
