Good to Know

  • All adoptable animals receive any necessary veterinary care, are current on all vaccinations, treated for parasites, microchipped and spayed/neutered prior to adoption,
  • CLICK HERE to read about our Adoption Process
  • Not all animals available for adoption live at our shelter – all of the dogs and several of the cats are in foster homes. To meet these animals, please submit an adoption application. Once it has been reviewed you will be contacted to arrange a meeting.
  • Important: Because we do home visits, we rarely adopt out of our local Portland metro area and we never ship an animal.

My Name is Hamlet!

My Personality: I enjoy being with people. I will roll on my back and stretch out so that you can pet my tummy and tell me how cute I am. Or give me a chin scratch and I’m all yours.

I have a playful side as well. Just find a toy and we can play for hours.

But I also like my alone time. I prefer sharing your space than cuddling up in your lap, although I’ve been known to sit in a lap or two. Working on your laptop, watching your favorite show, I’ll be right by your side.

My History: I was adopted from Animal Aid 5 years ago. My family returned me to the shelter when they added a baby to the family. Since being back at the shelter I was diagnosed with diabetes. I currently get insulin twice a day but I'm doing well and I'm a real champ with the injections.

My Age: I was born in 2004, so I'm still a young kitty.

My Appearance: I'm a gorgeous declawed kitty with my big green eyes, long white whiskers, tufts of hair in my ears, and fluffy tail. Everyone thinks I'm a Maine Coon mix.

My Videos: Click on the video icon above or click here to see me the first week at Animal Aid. It sure was nice to have someone there to pet me and to tell me everything will be ok.

My Perfect Home: I'm looking for a low-stress home with not too much activity. I probably wouldn't do well with active kids or dogs. Ideally, I'd like a quiet home with someone who wants the perfect companion -- me!
